Mrs Valerie Beattie (B.E.M.)

We were so pleased that Mrs Valerie Beattie took time today to visit our school to show us the BEM medal that she was recently awarded.

Mrs Beatie is a former Ballycarry Primary School pupil. In fact, as a child, she was selected to recite a poem for General Steele at the opening of the school on this site in 1953. We are pleased that she has maintained a close link with our school over all these years.

She told the children all about receiving her medal at Hillsborough Castle and her upcoming trip to Buckingham Palace. She talked about the importance of being kind, showing love and helping out whenever possible - something she has certainly done in this village.

She is a well-deserved recipient of this honour and we are very proud of her achievement.
